Oluwakemi Fagboro, better known by the stage name Chemmie, is a Nigerian afrobeat musician. The 24-year-old singer and Obafemi Awolowo University Microbiology graduate, debuted in 2019 with the release of her debut track, “Bless” produced by Fayasound . Later that year, she followed up with “Sleepless nights,” and since then she has continued to bless the ears of her fans with incredible songs like “Time (asiko),” “Real,” and “Balance It.”
Chemmie has performed at a few significant events both inside and outside of Lagos. She shared the stage with well-known Nigerian singer and composer Zamorra, and she also appeared on Wakeup Nigeria on TVCCONNECT. Baby, the first song from Chemmie’s debut EP “A Piece of Chemmie (A.P.C),” was released. Chemmie’s most recent song, Baby, has been blowing up speakers since it was released on December 15, 2022.
The incredible song tells the story of two lovers who fell out of love due to distance but subsequently reconciled to live out their “Happily Ever After” fantasies. With incredible sounds and straightforward trilingual poetry in English, Yorùbá, and Pidgin English, Chemmie is poised to spontaneously upend the African music existing social order.
