The Nigerian rapper and songwriter OdumoduBlvck released his much anticipated single “Declan Rice” last Friday, March 24. And on Sunday, the song took the top spot on Apple Music, making it the first rap song to take that spot without a feature in a long time.
Odumodu has been active on the music scene since 2018, with his genre of music being Afro-grime and Afro-Drill. His fan base has been slowly growing since then.
The song “Declan Rice,” which was produced by Trill Xoe and JohnWav, also took the top spot on Spotify last Saturday, while his previous hit single “Picanto” was in the 10 spot.
In this era of Nigerian music, where rap songs struggle to keep up compared to other genres of music, this was a very big deal for Black and his fans. He posted a screenshot of his iTunes top spot on Twitter and showed gratitude to everyone who has been listening to his music.
