New Music Weekend – Top Artistes Drops New Singles And Collaborations

It’s another weekend again! Hope your playlist has been updated?

We had a few artists drop new singles and collaborations at the start of the weekend; with Omah Lay’s WOMAN in the list, we also have Simi on NAKED WIRE, Lil Kesh’ VANILLA BOTTEGA (ft Joeboy), the remix of MONALISA by Lojay (ft Sarz and Chris Brown), 2000 by Laycon (ft Toby Shang) and FVCK OFF by Bella Shmurda.

Every song is worth a jam but let’s see if we can find a best of bests according to our tastes. A quick breakdown and analysis of each of the songs would help.

WOMAN brings back the original Omah Lay we’ve always known. From the subtlety in his voice to his choice of words in the lyrics, you’ll absolutely enjoy the song if you’re a true fan of Omah Lay. It’s also a song that appreciates the value of one’s woman, that’s a plus. The song is quality.

NAKED WIRE is a single off Simi’s upcoming album. The song gives us an idea of what to expect from the album and another song wouldn’t have done a better justice to that effect. It can be concluded that Simi also gives off her ‘Old Simi’ vibes in this new song, and the Old Simi is an evergreen Simi. And yes, it is a love song that catches the heart, lyrics are very relatable too with the use of new street slangs like ‘trabaye’.

When you hear ‘Skibo’, you know who it is! Lil Kesh dropped his new single, VANILLA BOTTEGA featuring Joeboy and it’s a good jam. Very melodious and has a lot of vibes in it. The lyrics have a lovely rhythm with too much cruise too. Dear Soft Life Geng, get your headsets and jam to this song already!

The original MONALISA was addictive for me but this new one, is more than addicitve! Initially, I wasn’t expecting too much since the original is good enough but Chris Brown came through in the feature and he ate! Asides the intro part of Chris Brown that was lit and magical, he also caused reactions from fans by mentioning the name of the popular Nigerian fraudster “Hushpuppy” in the lyrics. The song Monalisa (Remix) has been on a repeat since it’s release; the lyrics is very flattery and the song is just right for any woman.

2000 by Laycon (ft Toby Shang) is such a controversial song, lyrically. But this generation loves controversy so we are here for it! It’s has more of the Yoruba rap music vibes, and points out a lot of Gen Z’s attributes. The song gets funny and interesting as you pay attention to the lyrics, you should listen to it and ‘get back to me’.

Lastly, FVCK OFF by Bella Shmurda is a nice jam too, more like the ‘Old Bella Shmurda’ vibes we know with the call and response in some major parts of the lyrics. We all have those set of people we get bad energy from; this song is accurately for them. As the title entails, it’s a song for ‘haters’

Note that the songs don’t have a definite arrangement. You can check out their ratings on the Top 100 hot list later in the week.

I want to know your taste in music, I’ll love to get a feedback from you!
