Burna Boy Sets Records By Being The First African Artiste To Earn 2 Solo RIAA Platinum Singles

Burna Boy, a Grammy award-winning singer and songwriter, has become the first African artist to have two solo albums certified as platinum by the RIAA, creating a new, unparalleled record for African music.

After selling more than 1,000,000 units in the United States, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has awarded Burna Boy’s “Last Last” Platinum certification.

His 2018 single “Ye,” hit the same milestone on January 26, 2023, before this accomplishment. The African Giant is now recognized as the first lead artist from Nigeria to receive two RIAA Platinum certifications.

The Tony Braxton-produced “Wasn’t Man Enough,” which Darkchild produced, is sampled in the breakup anthem “Last Last”, which went viral after he initially performed it at the Billboard Music Awards in May.

In some of the biggest music markets in the world, “Last Last” has received certification.

Congrats to the real-life African Giant!
