Burna Boy makes history as the first Nigerian artist to headline a US stadium show

Come July 8, Burna Boy will officially be the first Nigerian to host a show in a US stadium, according to an exclusive announcement by Billboard.

The show, which would be hosted at the NYC field, would be one of the major stops on the superstars’ “Love, Damini” world tour. Some other stadiums he would headline during the tour include Paris’s La Defense, London’s stadium, and the Gelre Dome in Amsterdam.

The city fields stop, which is produced by America’s Live Nation, has its date slated on the first anniversary of the superstars’ “Love Damini” album. The album, which is his most recent, peaked at the 2nd spot on the Billboard World Album Chart and had some other major wins.

Burna Boy will have a busy couple of months ahead. He performed at the Dreamville Musical Festival in Raleigh last weekend. He would be performing at Coachella in Indio, California, this April, then headlining the Afro-Nation show in Miami by May. He was also slated to co-headline the Champions League finals show in Istanbul in June.

Burna boy says it’s his vision to build a bridge between all black people with his music and performance in one his billboard interviews.    He regards music as the number one messenger.
